Ivan Schon, Non-Executive Director
BE (Communications, Curtin Univ)
Ivan, started his career with Schlumberger Ltd, and worked for this company overseas for 25 years rising from a Field Engineer to Division Manager and then to Region Marketing and Technical Manager. He worked in many countries and developed a broad expertise in the Oil and Gas sector as well as Finance, Marketing and Personnel management.
In 1993 he resigned from Schlumberger and returned to his home town of Perth, West Australia, and subsequently bought and ran a Plastics Moulding business (Plas-Pak (WA) Pty Ltd).
In February of 2007 he bought Satellite Appliance Sales, which he later renamed SAS Telecom.
Patrick O'Connor, Non-Executive Director
B.Com, SEP Stanford (USA), FAICD
Patrick has an impressive track record of driving entrepreneurial ventures from start-up to maturity. His career began in 1981 at KMG Hungerfords, and from 1985 to 1987 he was an executive in the foundation of Normandy Resources.
From 1989 to 1998, Patrick was founder and Managing Director of Macraes Mining Company Limited, overseeing the transformation of a start-up exploration company into New Zealand's largest gold producer.
He is currently director of a number of ASX listed companies including Deputy Chairman of lead and zinc producer Perilya Limited and Chairman of biotech investment company Xceed Capital Limited. He is also Chairman of the West Australian Water Corporation and an executive director of St George Capital Pty Ltd.
Patrick gained his BCom from the University of Western Australia, and in 1998 attended the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford University, California, USA. He is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Paul Cresp, Managing Director

Australia)
Paul has extensive experience in developing and managing technology based companies in Australia and the UK.
After gaining a Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering Paul commenced his career as an engineer for Marconi Avionics in the UK. On return to Australia he was employed by the University of Western Australia before embarking on a successful business career. For nine years until 1992 he was an executive director and founding partner of Perth based Professional Technology. In 1993 Paul founded the computer rental business currently named Hire Intelligence. After the sale of the business he spent 18 months heading up developing their UK operation.
Paul is well versed in the technical and commercial operations of the telecommunications industry having been WA, State Manager for Macquarie Telecom for 5 years.
Paul has a passion for excellence in customer service.
Philip Taylor, Operations Manager
Phil began his career in the electrical
trade followed by 11 years in retail management with the Heat &
Home Group.
With the introduction of Australia’s first mobile satellite phone service in 1994, Phil joined SAS in a sales role. Phil was able to gain valuable experience as new satellite technologies were introduced in Australia and as SAS developed their communications solutions into the mining sector.
Over the past 15 years Phil’s roles with SAS have included, Account Manager, Logistics Manager and Operations Manager.
Gary Martin, Sales Manager
After qualifying as an Architectural
Draftsman Gary commenced his working life with the then Public
Works department where he was employed for 17 years.
In 1987 Gary embarked on his successful career as a sales executive and account management. At Transcom Australia Gary was promoted from Account Manager to International Sales Manager with a focus on Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia. Follow this Gary was very successful in developing the business for Ramsys in their Mining Productivity software. As a result of Gary’s efforts SAS became Australia’s number 1 supplier of satellite phones for Optus, Iridium and Globalstar.
With the growth of the company Gary was appointed Sales Manager in March 2009. His primary responsibilities now include management of the satellite communications sales team and development of the mine camp communications and entertainment infrastructure business.
Vince Maxwell, Engineering Manager
Vince comes from a technical services
background having completed an apprenticeship with the PWD
Mechanical and Plant Engineers working on State wide radio
communications network for the then Country Water Supply Authority
and obtaining a trade certificate in Radio and TV servicing in
1980.
After a short stint at Crazy Charlies and then Philips Two Way Radio Division he joined the WA Police and was engaged in the design, installation and maintenance of the Police radio network including the construction and implementation of the Police control centre in East Perth.
In 1988 Vince and his family moved to Wongan Hills where they ran a successful Electronics business servicing a wide variety of domestic and commercial electronic equipment.
